Doxazosin is an alpha-adrenergic blocker used to treat hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It relaxes veins/arteries for more efficient bloodflow and relaxes muscles in bladder and prostate to ease urination.
Take as prescribed doctor. Follow instructions provided.
Do not take if allergic to doxazosin or similar medications. Inform doctor if you have digestive tract blockage, serious constipation, liver disease, hypotension. May affect pupils during cataract surgery – inform surgeon of drug use beforehand. Avoid overheating and suddenly getting up. Avoid driving/activities that require alertness until you know how this drug affects you. Avoid alcohol.
Get emergency help and inform doctor if you experience serious side effects such as: lightheadedness, severe stomach pain/bloating, chest pain, breathing issues, erection that lasts 4 hrs or more. Other common side effects include: hypotension, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, dizziness. Possible interactions include: antibiotics, antidepressants, HIV/AIDS medication, ED medication.
