Coumadin is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to reduce blood clot formation to reduce risk of stroke, heart attack, and other severe conditions.
Take as directed by doctor. Follow guidelines attached. You may need to cease taking before a surgery or other medical procedure.
Inform any medical provider that you take coumadin. Coumadin may make it easier for you to bleed. Use care when brushing teeth. Avoid: grapefruit/cranberry/noni/pomegranate juice, alcohol.
Get medical attention if you suspect a serious reaction, such as: allergic reaction, skin changes/discoloration, sudden and severe leg/foot pain. Other common side effects include: headache, weakness, dizziness, unusual bruising, pain and swelling, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, heavy menstruation, bleeding that doesn’t stop, blood in urine and stools. Inform doctor of other prescribed and OTC drugs before use, including vitamins/supplements/herbs.
