Fosinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is used to treat hypertension or heart failure. Not for children under 6 years old.
Take with or without food. Inform medical personnel that you take this drug if you need surgery or medical tests. Keep using even if you feel well. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
If you have diabetes, do not use in combination with meds that contain aliskiren. Do not use if pregnant. Inform doctor of all medical conditions and medications you use, especially if you have - or develop - kidney disease. Don’t use this drug if you are allergic to fosinopril or similar drugs. Avoid alcohol. Avoid antacids within 2 hours before/after fosinopril. Do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements. Avoid getting up too quickly.
Find medical help immediately and contact your doctor if you experience an allergic reaction. Contact doctor as soon as possible if you encounter serious effects including: lightheadedness, sudden weakness, flu-like symptoms, mouth sores, sore throat, little/no urination, unusual pulse, nausea, weakness, loss of movement. Other side effects: congestion, muscle/joint pain, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, headache, fatigue, mild itching/rash. Fosinopril may interact with other prescription and OTC drugs.
