Motilium (Domperidone) is an orally transmitted prescription medication that comes in tablet form. This medication is mainly used to alleviate symptoms patients are suffering from due to stomach disorders by promoting the movements in the digestive system. In some cases, Motilium (domperidone) may be helpful in offsetting certain symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting, that patients may experience while taking certain medications.

Motilium (domperidone) should be taken exactly the way your doctor instructs you. In most cases, this medication is taken orally half an hour prior to food consumption and right before bed. Do not attempt to take this medication more than instructed to, as doing this will not speed up recovery. Rather, an increased chance of developing side effects may occur.

It is imperative that you notify your doctor of your extensive medical history, with emphasis on certain conditions such as breast cancer, and allergies. It is recommended to not consume alcohol during your treatment with Motilium (domperidone), or alcohol consumption should be kept to a minimum. At the start of your treatment, your body may take some time to adjust to Motilium (domperidone). You may experience some common side effects for the first few days such as:

• Irritability
• Difficulty sleeping
• Stomach cramps
• Hot flashes
• Leg cramps

• Irregular heartbeat or a noticeable change in heart rate
• Swelling of the feet
• Ankles
• Breasts
• Difficulty urinating
• Menstrual changes

• Discharge from the nipple in both men and women

How should I store my medication?

Motilium(domperidone) should be stored in a cool and dark environment out of the reach of young children and pets. A bathroom medicine cabinet is not a recommended storage location for this medication.

Is there any testing that needs to be done while I’m on treatment?

In some cases, your doctor may deem it necessary to monitor you regularly to check for adverse side effects you may experience while taking Motilium(domperidone).
