Azithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections and STIs.
Take extended release liquid on empty stomach 1 hr before or 2 hrs after meal. Do not save opened packets for later use. Dispose of mixed formulas not used within 12 hours.
Inform doctor if you have had: jaundice/liver problems caused by taking this drug, allergy to similar drugs, liver or kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, heart rhythm disorder, low potassium, long QT syndrome (or if family member has it).
Find emergency assistance and inform physician if you experience serious side effects, including: severe skin reaction, allergic reaction, reaction that affects many parts of the body, severe stomach pain, diarrhea, fast/pounding heartbeats, shortness of breath, dizziness, liver problem symptoms like dark urine and jaundice. Other common side effects include: diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, headache. May interact with digoxin, clarithromycin, or blood thinners.
